HCMG 4053: Public Health Practices

This course prepares students to apply the core functions of public health: assurance, policy development and assessment within the ten essential activities of public health. The course describes the major causes of morbidity and mortality in the United States and the public health interventions used to address them. The evidence for and against the effectiveness of public health interventions, as well as the political, legal and ethical controversies that arise in public health practice, will be covered.
