The eVersity Difference: We’ve Saved Our Students More Than $5.7 Million

The University of Arkansas System eVersity’s innovative business model has saved its students more than $5.7 million since classes launched in 2016.

In a time when the average price of tuition and fees is continually on the rise and students are leaving college saddled with record amounts of debt, eVersity has proven itself as an affordable and accessible answer for hardworking adults looking to find the time, money and strategy to finish their college degrees.

“We set out to change the way online learning is delivered — better quality courses, more affordable tuition, greater flexibility in scheduling — and all of those things are proving to be deciding factors in helping people make the choice to go back and finally earn their college degree,” said Michael Moore, Ph.D., chief academic/operating officer at eVersity. “We’ve worked extremely hard to identify all of the barriers that were making it hard for people to go to college — crazy high tuition and fees, all of the hassles and costs of applying and getting enrolled, no student support or direction — all of these things we’ve been able to completely eliminate or improve upon and it’s making our students very happy.”

According to a recent eVersity alumni survey, 100 percent of graduates said they would recommend eVersity to a friend and more than 97 percent said they are satisfied with the value of their degree in terms of its cost.

“It’s great that so many of our students and graduates are happy with their experience at eVersity, but to me what stands out is the incredible success rate — about 94 percent of students are passing classes, which shows the quality of our high-touch advising model and the high-quality of our course design,” Moore said. “Our model of taking one abbreviated, high-quality course at a time for a fair price and not charging for books or fees is making a difference in the lives of the people we set out to serve and is providing an extremely efficient option in the higher education landscape.”

A recent series of stories (linked below) examined the savings passed on to eVersity students through its innovative business model of not charging students for application fees ($220,000), not requiring expensive books for its coursework ($1.4 million), keeping its tuition at one of the lowest rates in the country ($1.3 million) and never charging any additional student fees on top of tuition ($2.8 million). The savings versus the conservative national average in those four areas totals more than $5.7 million in total costs saved by students who have enrolled in at least one course at eVersity since courses launched in January 2016.
